Search the MUSSEL Project Database:
This is a Beta version of the MUSSELpdb-se (MUSSEL Project Database Search Engine).
The MUSSELpdb-se looks for text matches in various fields of multiple tables of the MUSSELpdb. Only letters, numbers, spaces, and underscores can be entered for searching. Not all of the fields of the MUSSELpdb tables are shown on this web site. The pull-down menu provides options for which specific tables to search.
Search Options
- all fields: All of the following search options are executed.
- scientific names: The text string entered is tested against the names of families, genera, and species. For family- and genus-group names, the whole text (with a wildcard on the right end) is apllied to find a match. For example, 'lamp' will find LAMPSILINI, Lampsilis, Lamprotula, etc. For species, the text string is broken into multiple words. The first word (with an ending wildcard) is applied for the genus, and the last word (with an ending wildcard) is used to find the species. For example, 'lamp' will return all species of the genera Lampsilis, Lamprotula, etc., while 'lamp car' will return Lampsilis cardium.
- specimen localities: The text string entered (with wildcards at both ends) is tested against the following fields of the Specimens table: original locality, water, locality, secondary division (e.g., county), primary division (e.g., state, province), and country.
- GenBank voucher localities: This is the same as the specimen localities search, but it is directed toward the fields of the GenBank Vouchers table.
- publications: The text string (with wildcards at both ends) is tested against the author, aricle title, and publication title fields of the Publications table.
